The File menu contains 5 submenus which play the following role:

• Preferences: Modify the chat to your needs (e.g. play sound when key is pressed).
• Save chat session: Save the current chat session including all pictures to your local hard disk. A separate help is available!
• Clear chat window: Delete all content from the current chat window (chat room). Other chat rooms will be unconcerned.
• Clear chat history: Delete all content from all chat rooms.
• Logout: Exit the chat application. Alternatively you may also press the little cross button at the title bar.

Hint: You may also start a menu action by pressing Alt+menu shortcut+sub menu shortcut. Example: Alt+F+P will open the preference window.

The Appearance menu contains 4 submenus which play the following role:

• Colors: Modify the chat's interface to your needs (e.g. color of title bar).
• Fonts: Modify the fonts and/or the font size.
• Backgrounds: Modify the chat's background to your needs.
• Paint gradient: Modify the look and feel of all chat components (e.g. buttons)

Hint: You may also start a menu action by pressing Alt+menu shortcut+sub menu shortcut. Example: Alt+F+P will open the preference window.

The Help menu contains 2 submenus which play the following role:

• Help: Shows this help.
• About: Shows some information about jicoma and your system.

Hint: You may also start a menu action by pressing Alt+menu shortcut+sub menu shortcut. Example: Alt+F+P will open the preference window.

Click here to search the menu for a word or string. To search for a word or string enter the term into the text field and push ENTER. There will be a small button for every match. Click again to hide the textfield and the matches.

Example: The term save will be found once, namely at the submenu Save chat session.

Choose this tab to view the chat window. After startup this tab will be selected automatically.

Choose this tab if you want to change to another chat room. Select the desired chat room and push the Enter room button.

Advice: Only the chat administrators may create or delete chat rooms!

All messages will be displayed here. The text will be displayed according to your preferences. If you sent italic text, all users in the current chat room will see your text italic as well.

Hint: You may citate text by marking the according text with your mouse and by pushing the right mouse button.

Hint: You may search the chat area for a certain term or word. To do so, click the right mouse button and select Search text from the menu. The matches will be found and highlighted automatically. To jump to the next match, just press ENTER.

Hint: You may search the web for a term or translate a term. To do so, highlight the term and press the right mouse button.

Hint: You may open a preview of your text by pushing the button showing a crystal ball (below).

Hint: You may click web links to open the web site.

Advice: The chat comes with an integrated web site blocker and an integrated swear word filter. If the filter and/or the blocker are activated, all blocked web sites and swear words will be replaced by *********. This functionality may only be enabled/disabled by the chat administrators.

The chat comes with an automatic scroll functionality. You may scroll by clicking the scrollbars or by clicking the little arrows above and below the scrollbars.

Click here once to show either the whole chat area or the user list.

Advice: If you are logged in as administrator you may kick a user by right clicking on the user.

You may send a PM to the currently selected user by pushing this button. All text that you send as PM may only be seen by you and your chat partner.

Hint: You may choose whether you would like to hear a short sound when a PM arrives via File > Preferences.

Click here to view the profile of the currently selected user. To modify your own profile, select your user name (shown green) from the list and push this button.

Click here to block any selected user from the user list. Any user that is blocked by you is not able to send you a private message nor may you send this specific user a private message.

Advice: If a blocked user is trying to send you a PM, he/she will get a message that he/she is being blocked by you.

Enter your text here. All text that is contained in this text field will be displayed in the chat area after you push ENTER or the Send button. The text is visible for all users residing in your chat room after you sent it.
